Seamless Transitions: Summer to PSL Season

Ignoring the fact that the temperature is a high of 95 today, I’m ready to transition into that sweet, sweet Fall energy.

Also ignoring the fact that I’ve already had two PSLs in the last 14 days, I’m using this week to officially move into my Autumn-vibe makeup stash.

Swapping out my very dewy Tower28 SunnyDays skin tint to my more-satin finish Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation stick when it comes to my foundation. The stick also gives me a bit more coverage and is perfect for the Fall weather.

While I do use my Glossier stretch concealer year-round, the Kosas Revealer concealer gives me the same amount of coverage but with less of a sheen. Plus, the Kosas has eye cream benefits like caffeine, B5, and peptides which my under eyes need as the cooler weather approaches!

Swapping out my eye products is a newer idea for me. For this season, it’s not so much about the finishes (since a cream shadow can be great for Winter too!). Instead, it’s leaning into the Fall tones. So I’m swapping my rose gold Auric Smoke Reflect and Makeup By Mario brown eyeliner for Colourpop'‘s all matte Ray of Sunshine Palette.

This is an easy swap! Moving from the barely there brow to a bit more dramatic (which for my brows means a tiny bit of tint). Keeping it in the family with the Kosas — moving from the clear Air Brow to the taupe.

My bronzer swap is all about the finish. My Em Cosmetics So Soft bronzer stick is a deeper shade, which gives me a little more of a reddish tint—perfect for Summer. But for the Fall, I want more of a hint of bronze with an airbrush finish. Enter: Patrick Ta Major Sculpt. Bonus points for the included creme contour.

The Merit Flush Balm blush is absolute perfection for a flush (lol get it) of color with a dewy finish. While it will still most likely find its way into a Fall look, I’m focusing on the absolutely stunning LYS Higher Standard blush. It gives the most perfect satin matte finish that seamlessly guides my look into Fall.

What can I say, sometimes my lashes want a little more drama as the days get shorter. I’m swapping out the lengthening (I think I can say…perfect?!) Tower28 Making Waves mascara with my Bite Beauty Upswing mascara (rip Bite Beauty) for a bit more fullness.

When it comes to lip products, I’m moving from the extra glossy Tower28 ShineOn Milky Jelly to the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil. The Rare Beauty lip gets extra points for also acting as a lip stain—perfect for working my way through all those PSLs without needing to reapply!

For my powder swap, I’m setting (another pun for ya) aside my Kosas Cloud Set for the Glossier Wowder, since it has more of a matte finish without looking flat.

My main shift is moving from those summer dewy vibes to a more satin-to-matte finish. Not just with my face products, but also my blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, and lip products.

Also, it’s important to note that I L.O.V.E. my summer products, but this swappage is more about using the seasons to change up the products I reach for— almost like creating a Fall 2023 makeup capsule collection. It’s also a great way to #shopyourstash if you’re like me and want to rotate through more of your products.
